Programmer to Pilot

From programming in Flex and ColdFusion, I have now gotten into RC airplanes. The plane that got me hooked was the T-28 by ParkZone. Last year I tried buying a couple of cheap kits and got so frustrated putting them togehter that I gave up.

Well my brother was determined to get me hooked on flying. While visiting him in Northern Minnesota in July, I found the T-28 by Parkzone at a local hobby shop, bought it and now I am hooked.

WOW Overload!!

The WebManiacs 2008 conference has just wrapped up. I’m in overload mode. I attended both the CFManiacs and the FlexManiacs portions. It is was an excellent conference. There were so many hands-on session to choose from that sometimes it was hard to choose when there was a conflict and I took advantage of attending as many as possible. Here some of the ones I felt that I walked away having learned something new that I could apply back at work immediately (in no particular order).

  • Flex w/ColdFusion by Dave Gallerizzo
  • Rapid Application Prototyping with The Extending ColdFusion 8 AJAX Components by Steve “Cutter” Blade
  • Manipulating Microsoft Office Documents with ColdfFusion 8 by Steve Drucker

I really appreciated that Dave was willing to continue his session for an additional hour since no session was scheduled in the same room. For me, that last hour is when we got into the really really good stuff.

I can’t wait for next year!

PS. It seems everyone is blogging now at days and it does seem to be a good way to share information. So I have decided to as well. So this is my fist blog entry.
